MATT C. WHITE - A Cosmic Year

from $34.00

MATT C. WHITE - A Cosmic Year LP

This is a post modern psych rock album with a punk attitude from a very talented solo artist from New York named Matt C. White (Grandpa Jack, Certain Death, etc). "A Cosmic Year" has parts reminiscent of The White Stripes, All Them Witches, Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, Pink Floyd and is all tied together with musical interludes. The cover artwork is a super sixty inspired modern psychedia masterpiece created by Matt Crab.

A Cosmic Year is the sound of an artist really finding their sound. If this album has a rock base, and it does, it is one infused with psychedelic soundscapes and often venturing down into dark and doom-laden sonics. It can be euphoric and groovy, dark and downbeat, and is just as often straightforward and punchy as it is proggy and ornate.

This is the sound of the alternative, the outsider, the liminal, the sort of music which has always walked its own path, a kaleidoscopic and trippy, adventurous and experimental path at that. Yes, it is rock music, but rock music being pushed through every sonic border, rock music being fused with every neighbouring genre, rock music exploring what it can be, rock music on the outside track, rock music that unites the past with the present and points to a healthy future for the genre.

Total pressing limited to 200 copies (100 black, 100 blue).

"Born and raised along the banks of the Neuse River in North Carolina, Matt C. White is no stranger to the folklore of the Deep South that animates his songwriting. His musical style is groove driven, fuzz wrapped, backwoods Tom Foolery touched by dark, psychedelic, southern soul. Matt C. White’s »A Cosmic Year« isn’t just another psych record – it’s a cosmic fuzz ritual wrapped in echo and groove, bending time and pulling you through galaxies of riff and genre. Imagine stoner doom colliding with space-age psych, desert haze drifting into astral jazz, and a groove heavy enough to shake the stars loose. This is more than an album – it’s a yearlong journey through the cosmic unknown." - Doomed-Nation.com"
